Rachel Carson's First Influence in American History-Going Green is what made Silent Spring!

In my opinion, Rachel Carson was one of the greatest Americans because she was one of the first people to actually try to make the environment a better place for humans and all other living things. All of the talk started after Carson wrote one of her most well known books, Silent Spring. After writing this book the government and public started talking in open discussions about the environment and started to pass laws that benefited the world we live in. This in itself shows how it is possible that one person can make a change and gain interest in a cause that wasn’t talked about before Rachel came along.

The book Silent Spring was basically about the wasteful and destructive use of pesticides in 1962. This book brought people to use more caution when using pesticides. It also made people pay more attention regarding the poison in the food supply of animals and the result of which was that it killed lots birds and fish. This was hurtful to Rachel and made her work even harder for her cause because she had a life long interest in the environment. Knowing that humans are purposely harming our world was not acceptable to Rachel. Another problem with using pesticides that her book brought attention too is that some of our food supply may contain pesticides. Her arguments against using pesticides helped lead to restrictions of the use of pesticides in many parts of the world.
Rachel Carson worked tirelessly for the environment; thankfully back when there wasn’t anyone else paying attention to what was going on in the world around them. She pioneered the effort to bring attention to the environment and especially pesticides and the harm they were causing. By trying to prove a point in her book Silent Spring.Carson,Rachel Louise."
